The End of #cuffingseason: How to Break Up With Your Winter Bae

When the weather outside is frightful, sleeping next to a reliable bae is so delightful. But when it’s no longer going to snow, let him go, let him go, let him go!

To be honest, I haven’t had a bae solely for cuffing season since my college days but the memories of unhooking those chains of love are still fresh. Having a boo thang during the cold months is phenomenal. I mean, it’s regular sex and affection without having to go out and proactively date when it’s freezing out. But when that snow melts and the temp hits about 75 degrees out, keeping bae around seems ridiculous. So how do you break it off? How do you tell your boo that it’s over because you are ready to shake it for the 99 and 2000’s?

Don’t you dare wait until the summer time

If you wait until about June to make your move, you are basically telling your cuffing season boo that you want them around for the long term. You know that it’s been warm since May. Stop playing.

Remind them that it’s not them, it’s you

It isn’t their fault that you only want the warmth of consistency for about 5 months out of the year. Let them know that they are a wonderful person and it’s you, not them.

Finally, severe all contact

You’ve probably broken this person’s heart (that is if they weren’t on the same page as you). You’ve probably made them second guess everything they know about love. Don’t drag out the torture of breakup recovery by sending them periodic “you up?” texts at 1 in the morning. That’s just being an asshole!

Do you have you boo for cuffing season? If so, what are you planning on doing because it’s getting warm out because girl!
