It has been a while since I shared a recipe with you ladies (& gents). I have been wanting to try this one for a while and finally gathered the ingredients, whipped out my hair product making utensils, and a recipe. This recipe was adapted to fit my needs from this original recipe. I changed up a few things to what works for my hair and to fit what I had on hand. So, I used:
Olive Oil (2 tablespoons)
Shea Butter ( 1/2 cup)
Aloe Vera Juice (1/4 cup)
Rose Water Glycerin (1 teaspoon)
Vitamin E Oil (5 drops)
Sweet Orange Essential Oil (10-15 drops)
In the original recipe, it says to use the double boiler method. I did not and if you keep the heat low, you really don’t need to. So I melted the shea butter down to a liquid. I took it off of the heat, put it in container (heat safe) and added the other ingredients. If you are using aloe gel, I would definitely add the gel to the warm shea butter and mix with a hand mixer as the original recipe suggested before adding the other ingredients so that it is evenly blended.
Once all of the ingredients are mixed together, put it in the fridge for it to set. About an hour. Once it is set, you can take it out and store as normal. It may separate a little but as it stores at room temp, the separation will subside and will be well incorporated.
I love this butter because it is extremely moisturizing and absorbs very well. It isn’t too greasy like some butters tend to be. It is great for your skin and hair. I use it on my 2 y/o’s very sensitive and dry skin and it works wonders! Go on, try it, try it!
