Shea Moisture Moisture Retention Shampoo Review

shea moisture- Google ImagesBy nature, I am a creature of habit. When I find a product, food, store that I love, I love it to death! My shampoo that I loved to death has recently disappeared from the store shelves. With my favorite shampoo gone and my hair getting dirtier by the minute, I decided to venture out to a new shampoo.

Shea Moisture is a brand that I love. I love their lotions, body soap, and hair line. They incorporate raw shea butter into all of their products which, by the way, are all natural. So, by recommendation, I decided to try out the Moisture Retention shampoo.

This sulfate free golden shampoo smells as good as it looks. It is a bit perfume-y but not overwhelmingly so. You won’t get a migraine after washing your hair. It had a good lather for a sulfate free shampoo which is especially appealing for sulfate free first timers. The best part of this shampoo, though, is how it makes my hair feel immediately! I have never had a shampoo that made my hair feel manageable and soft. My hair felt amazing! Even better, the softness was long lasting.

BUT, I have one problem with this otherwise wonderful product. While the softness was long lasting, the clean feeling was not. Within days of washing my hair, my scalp was itching. Itching a lot. This could be a cleanliness issue or a drying issue. That, I am still trying to figure it out.

I am definitely going to finish the bottle I have however, unless I find a solution to the itching, I probably will not be repurchasing.
